Personal History
After recieving a bachloer's degree in Health Sciences at the University of the Ryukyus, I worked as a midwife at a local hospital. Having always been interested in working in the field of maternal and child health globally, I decided to earn master's degree in public health. I studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned a Masters in Public Health in 2012. After graduating from UNC, I stayed home and enjoyed raising two children for three years before moving back to Okinawa. While working in the Department of Nursing at the University of the Ryukyus, I met Professor Kobayashi and was inspired by his work to continue my studies and pursue a PhD with a focus on improving maternal and child health in low-resource settings.
Message
Our department has a nice atmosphere, and I learn new things every day through active discussions. We have many opportunities in this department. Through my doctoral course, I want to become a researcher who can ''think globally and act locally''.
