February 2016: Laos Preliminary Study on “Innovative Technical Research and Development through Genetic Epidemiology Aimed at Controlling the Spread of Malaria and Key Parasitic Infestations”

For approximately one week beginning on February 21, 2016, Associate Professor Nonaka and graduate students Takahashi and Azuma visited Savannakhet Province and Vientiane, the capital of Laos, to conduct a preliminary study. This was part of the research being conducted in Laos on “innovative technical research and development through genetic epidemiology aimed at controlling the spread of malaria and key parasitic infestations.”

Pilot Study for Research on Maternal and Child Health in Laos
 

Dates: August 11 ~ August 16, 2014

Location: Vientiane and Sepone District in Savannakhet Province in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic

Description: A preliminary study for research on maternal and child health was conducted in Savannakhet Province, Laos. Discussions were held with researchers in Laos about the criterion to be used in this study while comparing the social and cultural backdrop behind childbirth in Laos. Actual visits were also made to four villages in Sepone District to conduct questionnaires.
