Personal History


After graduating from high school in my hometown of Siem Reap, I left home to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry at the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) in the Cambodian capital.

I am currently honored and delighted to be pursuing a Ph.D. in Global Health Science at the University of the Ryukyus, Japan.

I expect to complete my doctoral studies in 2027. Upon graduation, I look forward to bringing the research expertise and knowledge I have gained in Japan back to Cambodia to share with my student-teachers and colleagues at my institution.

Message

My personal educational philosophy is: "One who knows others is clever, but one who knows oneself is enlightened."

People living across the globe may belong to different races, colors, traditions, cultures, languages, religions, and beliefs; however, they share a singular fundamental purpose: to live with adequate food, clothing, shelter, and the tools and necessities of life. This ensures they have the strength, freedom, and capability to exist. The education every individual requires—regardless of nationality or country—aims to support life and encompass both mental and physical well-being.

I believe that as an educator with a positive influence on student-teachers, it is vital to understand their needs and help them discover who they are, where they come from, what they are doing, why they are doing it, and for whom they are doing it. This is the most crucial element in developing human resources today.

While the phrase "knowing oneself" is easy to write, it is incredibly difficult to find and understand oneself. Yet if we clearly know ourselves and our own needs, we naturally understand others' needs.
